Cake Decorating Classes

For my birthday Alex signed me up for cake decorating classes at Robert's Arts and Crafts. It was the "Wilton Basics" class. I had a lot of fun learning how to decorate a cake and make different types of flowers. Here a few pictures from my classes.

For my first class we learned how to make stars. This is pretty essential if you want to decorate cakes. We were told to bring sugar cookies to practice on. Here are a few of what I did.

This cake was from my second class. We learned dimensional decorating and ruffles.

For our third class we learned drop flowers, swirled drop flowers, leaves, rosettes, pom pom flowers, shell borders and shaggy mums. Here are a few cupcakes I did. The yellow and dark blue are drop flowers and the bright blue is a pom pom flower.

For my fourth and final class we had to decorate a cake as a final project. We also learned how to do ribbon roses and writing that day. I decided to do a "Happy Anniversary" cake since it was a week before mine and Alex's anniversary! :)

  1. Very good Whitney. I'm glad you liked the class. When i took it I thought it was a lot of fun as well. How was B-Jo as a teacher?

  2. She was really good as a teacher. And she didn't make it feel like we were all dumb like some teachers do. She spent individual time with each person making sure they got how to do all the flowers and stuff. I'm thinking of maybe taking the fondant and gum paste class next but when we have the money. :)
