So, as I've grown older I've grown a love for gardening!! Every summer I always love to go flower shopping with my mom and help her plant flowers in her yard. I have just recently gotten into planting a vegetable garden. Alex's sister and brother-in-law have a huge garden at their house and have been kind enough to let Alex and I plant some veggies for the past 3 years. The first year we planted we were still trying to get the hang of gardening and we wasted a lot of produce. The second year we did really good with our tomatoes!! And this year we are hoping to do just as good with the tomatoes and everything else. We planted our garden for this year today and I can't wait to see how it turns out!!! The first two years we started all our plants from seeds and the only ones that have really done good were our tomatoes. So, this year we decided to plant starts! My dad always uses starts and his garden is always beautiful and he always has a ton of produce from what he does!! We are hoping to see the same results! Here's a picture of our garden as of today! The first row (on the left) has 2 cucumber plants. We have room for another and will probably plant one more. The next row over has bell peppers in it. The first 4 (front ones) are red bell peppers and the back 4 are green. The next row over (with only 4 plants) are chili peppers. Alex wanted to plant those. I'm not a huge fan of hot peppers. With the left over space next to the chili peppers we are wanting to plant green beans. And the last row has two tomato plants! I can't wait to see how our garden will turn out this year!!
Looks great!! I can't wait to see how it does over the summer. You guys are getting pretty good at gardening, for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhit, that's such a great idea! We were going to plant a garden in one of my parents garden beds, but then they decided not to do it this year... I need to see if I can do it in their yard even if they're not. :) It's just hard with a full time job. :S
ReplyDeleteWe started our garden tonight...It takes up half our backyard and I think its way to big! Especially since this is our first garden...Any advice?

ReplyDeleteTo keep weeds under control definitely use "Preen". It did wonders for us!!! We haven't had to weed yet this season! I don't think your garden will be too big. Especially with your brother and his wife and her sister living there too! :) There will be plenty to go around! Make sure to keep enough water on your plants but don't over do the water cuz too much can kill them. What have you planted? We've got a few tips from other people about a few plants.
